All is safely gathered in!

7th November 2020

Crowborough Foodbank has thanked all the local schools and churches who have been donating their harvest gifts to help local families in crisis.

Over the past few weeks a staggering total of more than 1.5 tonnes of food has been donated by the school and church communities and this will all go to helping local families in crisis.

We have had donations from St John’s Primary School, St Mary’s Primary School, Skippers Hill Manor Prep School, Sir Henry Fermor Primary School, Ashdown Primary School, St Michael & All Angels Church in Jarvis Brook, St Richards Church, Holy Trinity High Hurstwood, St John’s Church, United Church, and All Saints’ Church.

The result was a busy time for volunteers weighing in and sorting 1,519kg of food and our expanded warehouse is being put to good use!

Iain Luxford from Crowborough Foodbank Management Team said: “Times are tough for everyone at the moment but the most wonderful thing is that despite this, there has been no let-up in people’s concern for others and their generosity. On behalf of all the families in crisis that we are supporting, we want to say a huge thank you to all the schools and churches who have done such an amazing job with their harvest donations.”

This has already been our busiest year – by the end of August we had provided food for more than 1,400 people, more than in any previous complete twelve months period. These amazing harvest gifts, along with the continued support of our local supermarkets, and the generosity of the local community, mean we continue to be able to support hundreds of families. Thank you!
